Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 14, 2026
Upkeepery is free because it is supported by advertising and by sharing certain pseudonymized identifiers with partners. This policy explains exactly what we collect, what we share, what we never share, and the choices you have.
1. Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how Upkeepery(“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and shares information about you when you use the Upkeeperywebsite and applications (the “Service”). We have written it to be clear about something important: the Service is free because it is supported by advertising and by the sharing of certain identifiers with third parties. Please read it in full before you accept it.
2. Our data-supported business model
We do not charge you money. Instead, we fund the Service by (a) analyzing how people use it, (b) earning commissions on affiliate links, (c) showing promotions and advertisements inside the Service, and (d) — with your separate opt-in consent — sharing certain de-identified and pseudonymized identifiers and audience segments with advertising and data partners so that they can measure, target, and deliver promotions to you both inside the Service and on other platforms and websites.
Personalized promotions and advertising data sharing are optional and off by default. They happen only if you opt in — via the optional checkboxes at registration or the toggles in Settings → Privacy & consent — and you can withdraw that consent at any time, as easily as you gave it. Accepting this Policy is not consent to these activities, and declining them does not limit your use of the Service.
3. Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account information — name, email address, and, if you provide it, phone number, date of birth, and profile photo.
- Profile and demographic information — optional details you choose to add, such as gender, household size, education, and income bracket.
- Asset and usage content — the assets, items, maintenance tasks, professionals, inventory, and related records you create.
- Device and technical data — IP address, browser and device type, operating system, mobile advertising identifiers, and app or page interactions.
- Cookies and similar technologies — used for authentication, analytics, and advertising.
4. How we use information
- to provide, secure, personalize, and improve the Service;
- to send reminders, notifications, and account communications;
- to perform analytics and understand how the Service is used;
- to display relevant promotions and advertisements inside the Service;
- with your opt-in consent, to show you personalized promotions — offers tailored to your home, assets, and supplies, including from service professionals who advertise through the Service; and
- to comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.
5. How we share information — and what we do not share
We do not sell or share your directly identifying personal information (such as your name, email address, or phone number in plain form) with advertisers or data buyers. What we do share with advertising and data partners are pseudonymized identifiers that do not, on their own, reveal who you are, including:
- a SHA-256 hash of your email address;
- a SHA-256 hash of your phone number (if you provide one); and
- mobile advertising identifiers and similar device IDs.
These identifiers let partners recognize a device or match an audience without receiving your name, email, or phone number in readable form. With your opt-in consent, we may also license audience segments — groupings built from profile and asset attributes (for example, “homeowners in Quebec with a central HVAC system”) — to advertising platforms and marketplaces, matched using the pseudonymized identifiers above. We may also share aggregated or de-identified statistics that cannot reasonably be used to identify you. Companies that pay for access to these identifiers and segments may use them to target promotions to you inside the Service and to deliver advertising to you on other platforms and websites. None of this sharing happens unless you have turned on “Advertising data sharing” (at registration or in Settings → Privacy & consent). Separately from advertising, we share information with service providers who process data on our behalf (for example, hosting, authentication, and email delivery) and where required by law or to protect our rights.
Under certain privacy laws, sharing pseudonymized identifiers for advertising is treated as a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information even though we do not receive money for it in a traditional sense and do not disclose plain-text identifiers. You have the right to opt out (see below).
The Service also contains affiliate links. When you follow one, we record which link you clicked and your account so we can attribute referrals, and the destination retailer may set cookies or receive referral data governed by its own privacy policy.
6. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live (including under Canada’s PIPEDA, Quebec’s Law 25, and California’s CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to:
- access the personal information we hold about you;
- request correction of inaccurate information;
- request deletion of your personal information;
- request a portable copy of information you provided;
- withdraw your consent to our use or sharing of your information; and
- opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your personal information for targeted or cross-context behavioral advertising.
The fastest way to opt out of personalized promotions or the sharing of your identifiers and segments for advertising (“Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information”) is the toggles in Settings → Privacy & consent, which take effect immediately. Each consent change is recorded with the policy version in force at the time, so we can honor and prove your choices. For access, correction, deletion, or portability requests — or anything else — email us at contact@upkeepery.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights, and we will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law. You can also limit advertising identifiers through your device or browser settings.
7. Data retention
We keep your personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service, and thereafter as required for legal, accounting, or security purposes. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable period, except where retention is required by law.
8. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information, including encryption in transit and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Where your information is processed
We operate in Canada and may process and store information in Canada, the United States, and other countries where we or our service providers operate. Where required, we take steps to ensure your information receives an appropriate level of protection when transferred across borders.
10. Children’s privacy
The Service is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the Service or by email and, where required, ask for your renewed consent. The “Last updated” date above reflects the current version.
12. Contact and Privacy Officer
For privacy questions, to exercise your rights, or to reach our Privacy Officer as required under Quebec’s Law 25, contact us at contact@upkeepery.com. We will respond as required by applicable law.
